New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, is certainly stirring up a lot of controversy over his proposal to ban large sugary drinks. It's something that makes a lot of sense in order to start fighting this war on obesity. But sodas are not the only sugar-laden products that are just plain crappy for our health. To recap, Bloomberg wants to ban any sugary drinks that are larger than 16 ounces (a size that is more than sufficient for anyone). A 16 ounce Coke has a whopping 41 grams of sugar--more than double the 20 grams that the American Heart Association recommends for women (it's 36 grams for men).
