importing pics to windows 8 from motorola android?

I have a new computer which has windows 8 on it. when I connect my Motorola android to the computer via usb cord it says on the computer screen that there are no files to import even though I have several photos and videos on the cell phone. does anyone know if a certain driver needs to be installed first or how to go about importing these pictures and videos from my android to the computer with windows 8?

if it isn't working off the bat, you need to install the drivers. just search for your model number and they should come up.

once done, pictures and videos will be in the DCIM folder on the SD card.

you can also look into programs like airdroid as a last resort. (link below) you can transfer files "over the air" as long as the the phone and PC have an internet connection. i personally haven't used it yet, but i have heard really good things about it.
