I need to vent...whats your opinion on this situation with my mil?

Ok
So my partner has his umbilical cord still attched to his mother.
He has one older brother, but my partner is known as the 'favourite', his mother has actually told him that.
She just told him then that she spent more on him for xmas than she did her other son, his gf and her 1st grandaughter(6 months old) combined.
Why would she say this?
I feel like she constantly mothers him.
He is 21 and Im 18, we are having a baby together I just want her to back off and let him grow up!

Whats your opinion?
What does a person have to do to get answered? Ask stupid repetative questions like am i pregnant? Thanks alot yahoo answers made me feel SO much better

because she is scared. i bet his older brother has his own life right? so there isn't anything she can do to control him. but there are mothers who hold onto their youngest sons. this lady needs to back off and stop being so manipulative. she said this to tamper with your partner's feelings. so he will do anything she asks. sounds pathetic but it happens. but dont worry when the baby comes she will have to back off because he will be preoccupied with being a father.
