I've been practicing Jiu Jitsu for a little of 2 years now but I'm still an infant learning how to walk when it comes to the master. So there's still a lot I don't know and that I would love to learn!
1) Did Royce Gracie, or any Gracie for that matter, know anything other than Jiu Jitsu during the original UFC's? I didn't think they did, I'm just confirming my thoughts.
2) For any MMA fighter out there, or anyone that has/does practice Jiu Jitsu and any other kind of striking art, what is your opinion if a practitioner only believes in learning Jiu Jitsu? Is it wrong? Should they practice some sort of Karate or Boxing? Why? Can't Jiu Jitsu handle itself?
I've never been fond of striking and choose to only practice Jiu Jitsu, and recently I've started Judo, which I love btw. Also know that I was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I have taken about a years worth of kick boxing. But I've just never been a fan of striking. I really hate it because I find it useless for a fight and actually putting you at a disadvantage in a real fight. I would just like to know everyone's opinion for I do believe all a fighter needs is Jiu Jitsu. It's proven itself without boxing or other striking arts before.
