does a 3D blue ray disc play in 2D on a non 3D player?

I really want to order this blue ray movie, but it only comes in 3D blue ray. I don't have a 3D player, only a 2D one. So will the 3D movie play in 2D? or will it just not work? Please answer soon!

It will only work if it says both 2D and 3D on the same disk. The menu option will let you pick which one. Plus you will need a Blu ray player regardless. If it only says 3D it will only work on a 3D player.
