digital media VHS to DVD?

I have some old vhs video tapes which I played on my combined dvd and vhs player and decided to copy vhs tape to dvd by using video player own feature and it made a dvd copy for me.
If I play that same dvd on dvd player its fine I can see movie but later I decided to edit movie by ripping it using computer but when I inserted dvd into dvd rom cannot see any thing if I go to dvd properties it shows space full all BLUE file format is RAW what to do how to play or how to make it editable in any video editor.

You need to close the disc on the dvd player - look for a finalise option / close disc. Once you have done this the computer should be able to read the disc.
