David Ortiz’s highlight reel with the Boston Red Sox is full of clutch hits and monster home runs. He’s left his mark on road stadiums across the majors over his career, but nowhere is that more true than at Camden Yards.
After striking out during a game in 2013, Ortiz returned to the dugout and took out his anger on the phone box hanging on the wall, completely smashing it to pieces. It was a rare fit of rage from the usually smiling slugger and even three years later it’s still something we remember.

Ortiz played his final game in Baltimore on Thursday night and the Orioles held a pregame ceremony to recognize him. There was a video montage and an oversized $10,000 check in Ortiz’s name to the World Pediatric Project, a charity that helps ill children in the Dominican Republic. Those are both great tributes, but it gets even better. Or at the very least funnier.
Orioles star Adam Jones handed Ortiz the shattered phone box that the team had apparently kept*in storage somewhere waiting for this moment.
