Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce didn’t just get himself booted from his team’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars – he also, as expected, cost himself a good chunk of change.
In the fourth quarter, the veteran grew frustrated when he was yanked to the ground running a crossing route. He began yelling at the nearest official, and the official flagged Kelce for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Further angered, Kelce grabbed the towel from his waistband and threw it at the official.
Bad idea.

Travis Kelce learned the hard way: Don’t show up the refs. (AP) A second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty quickly followed, which now equals game ejection. Plus the Chiefs were pushed back 30 yards because of the flags.
Kelce knew it was a boneheaded move, telling reporters after the game, “As soon as the ref took off his hat, I knew I was out. Felt like an idiot,” said Kelce, who got a lecture from head coach Andy Reid as he left the field. “It was a terrible decision, but just have to learn from it and keep going.”
But contrition after the fact doesn’t matter much to the NFL in cases like this, and Kelce was fined pretty heavily by the league:

Now in his fourth year, Kelce is on pace to surpass the numbers he put up in 2015, the first time he was named to the Pro Bowl. He currently has 39 catches for 435 yards and three touchdowns.
