Blue Ember by Fiesta iQue Gas Grill Review
[SIZE=-1]Blue Ember by Fiesta iQue grill: First Look Its electronic controls are designed to provide precise cooking HIGH-TECH COOKER * The Blue Ember by Fiesta iQue grill has a touch screen with electronic controls, though you need to plug in the grill to use this nifty feature. Price we paid: $900 Date of Consumer Reports full report: June 2008 What it is. The Blue Ember by Fiesta iQue FGQ65079-403 is a four-burner, 79,000-Btu gas grill with two zones, allowing you to cook different foods at the same time at different temperatures. You can use the iQue as you would any other gas grill or manage cooking with the touch-screen electronic controls. The electronic control panel displays the type of food you are cooking, remaining gas in the tank (via its SonaQue monitor), and grill temperature. You can also use the controls to set two different grilling temperatures, though they have to be within 100° F of each other and you must use the included divider. The iQue also comes with a built-in meat probe with programmed settings that tell you when a specific internal temperature (indicating that cooking is done) has been reached. This grill, with 580 square inches of cooking area, is also equipped with an infrared rotisserie burner, a side burner, an ice bucket/tray to keep condiments or beverages cold, and two storage drawers, among other features. The iQue is sold at Lowe's stores nationwide as item #152202. What we liked. This grill provides uniform heating across its porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grates, and the remaining-cooking-time indicator is also a nifty feature. What we didn't like. To use the electronic controls, you need to plug the grill into an electrical outlet. You can still cook on the grill if it's not plugged in, but you won't be able to take advantage of some of its functions. Also, at more than 6 feet wide, this cooker eats up a lot of space on a deck or patio. Our initial take. The iQue can take some of the guesswork out of grilling. We're performing additional cooking tests and will post a full report online. Essential information. For more information on gas grills, read our June 2008 report.
