Are suit jackets without ties back in style?

I miss the 90's when sports/suit jackets with a tee and jeans or dress pants were in.

I HATE ties.

I've been seeing a lot of suit jackets (no tie) being worn in public and on TV lately so I'm wondering..

Is the suit-jacket-minus-the-tie look back finally?
