Are Dell laptops really that bad? And how are the Acer laptops. ?

Ok, I have this program through my job that I can purchase a laptop computer and they can deduct the cost from my check every month, which works out great for me. I need it for me when I start back college in January. My major thing is nice speed and reliability. I don't know a whole lot about computers and need some imput on the best out the one's listed.

I didn't know who Acer was by, but I heard that it's a product of Gateway. Thanks for your help.
