Angela Thorne, who has died aged 84, was an actress whose highest-profile role was as Marjorie Frobisher, best friend of Audrey fforbes-Hamilton, the posh widow played by Penelope Keith in the sitcom To the Manor Born; while that part called for a loyal, jolly-hockey-sticks English rose, she played a much spikier upper-middle-class type opposite Michael Elphick in the odd-couple comedy Three Up, Two Down, and she demonstrated her facility for portraying strong women as Margaret Thatcher on stage
