1998 Nissan Quest "check engine light" does not come on and cannot pass smog?

Car was sitting for about a year, took it to get a smog check and they're telling me it won't pass because the "check engine light" won't come on. Mechanic told me to drive it around for a bit and that should solve the problem. 100 miles later, the light still won't come on. What's the prob???

If you mean that the light won't come on when the car is in the "run" position, without starter engaged, then you need a new lightbulb in your dash. To pass your test, locate and clean out your idle air control valve, throttle body and throttle plate. Remove spark plugs, install a set of Bosch Fusion or Nippondenso Iridium or Twin Tip. You'll pass emissions now!!
