By standards I mean Safety, Emissions, Theft Protection, and Bumper standards?

What problems should i look out for when looking for a good one i.e rust in certain places, engine problems etc? Any help from Alfa owners would be great thanks. I know buying an Alfa shows a slight sign of madness ;) but i'm still sorely tempted by the V6 GTV CUP :)
