My dad is givin me one of these two cars, which should i take? I want to put performance mods on them of coarse. I am a big track racer and i love transforming cars but which should i do? Any opinions?

its pretty quick for a 27 year old car
but i wanna rebuild it and give it a little more power any ideas?
the best differential i can use to car ? my bmw e21 323 model 1982 with 5 speed manual trans and my problem is the original differential is short for the 3.0 e46 engine .
